A picture speaks a thousand words!
As you can clearly see, this organization and experience, made for a wonderful event for young and old alike. The dogs were on leashes and well behaved & positively adorable. There were more characters than time to meet them, starting right from the top people who kept things rolling! The Opera House wrapped up the weekend with a play about Who Shoot Stanton, and then gave it up for the gang to welcome in 2012 at a New Years Eve Party (for those ole timers who could last!!) Next year, maybe it'll be you!
Weather was perfect!!
Great time to get away, enjoy a bon fire & lively conversation with fellow campers & staff! Buy a new gold pan ... make it pink! Meet people from all around, and from as far away as Alaska, Oregon, and Canada!!
Invitation from the LDMA to learn more about panning for gold!!
There is GOLD in them there hills!! And there were 200 plus, prospectors and their families, in this famous ghost town on December 28 through January 1, 2012, to prove it! This semi-secluded ghost town is located on a dirt road out of Congress, north of Wickenburg, AZ and is owned and operated by the Lost Dutchman Gold Mining Association. The LDMA graciously invited the GPA / Gold Panning Association, to "come on down" and spend the long weekend! Signing up & showing up were folks from all over enjoying contests, seminars, a potluck, a play, auctions and drawings, making everyone a winner!! The comfortable RV camp set-up included room for the B>I>G> RV's, lots of ORV's or "Quads Parking" as the signs said, and included hot showers & pretty rock stairways; mining equipment & antiques, and of course, the craftsmen, selling their wears.
